Who can participate in Antelope Jr. Titans Cheer?

Antelope Jr. Titans welcomes all cheer athletes – experience, no experience or looking to expand their experience with our great board and coaching staff! Our organization prides ourselves on being a feeder program for all Antelope High Schools and encourage all future high school cheerleaders to sign up! Our program does not have any residential boundary requirements for registration.

What squad will my cheerleader be on?

We have squads for all age groups, beginning at 5 years old, through 8th grade!

6U Squad:  5-6 years old
8U Squad:  7-8 years old
10U Squad:  9-10 years old
1
2U Squad:  11-12 years old
14U Squad: 13 – 8th Grade

Although, your cheerleader should be registered on one of the squads above based on their age they do have the option to be bumped up to a higher level. AJT hosts internal cheer assessments prior to the season kicking off! We organize a mandatory assessment where the board members and cheer coaches assess your cheerleader(s) skills as well as maturity to learn new skills and are assessed by the board and coaching staff. Following the assessments, the VP of Cheer will review all the assessment logs and determine if your cheerleader should be bumped up to cheer with an older age group for the season. Please note, if your cheerleader is considered to be bumped up, the VP of Cheer will inform the parents and/or guardians and confirm that they are agreeable to this move prior to bumping the cheerleader up an age level.

What league are we in?

Antelope Jr. Titans organization is a member of SYF (Sacramento Youth Football).  SYF has multiple divisions each year, and division placements can change each year.  Specific division placement will be announced when it is released by SYF.  Check out www.sacyouthfootball.com for more information about SYF.

What kind of time commitment can I expect from the cheer season?

Cheer is a huge time commitment, just like football!! When our football players are out on the field—we are too!! Cheer may also participate in an extended cheer season, which is an even more extensive time commitment outside of the regular football/cheer season.

The exact dates for games and competitions can change each year and depend on when we receive that information from SYF. As soon as the information is released to us, we will inform our parents!

-          Our pre-season clinics will be held at a local park in Antelope.
Please check out of Facebook for more details on date and times!!

-          Our cheerleaders will practice at the same park in Antelope with our football players until the weather permits. Once we have secured our indoor practice facility, we will move indoors where we will practice for the remainder of the regular and extended season. Practice is mandatory and essential for all cheerleaders to be present. This is a TEAMWORK sport. Our cheerleaders cannot properly learn their routine and/or practice without all of their teammates present.

-          Mandatory parent meeting: May 15, 2024 at 6-8 PM at Olive Grove Elementary School (behind the portables on the park side)

-          Mandatory uniform fittings:  May 20, 2024, times / location TBD
(This is mandatory for all cheerleaders. If you are not present, we cannot guarantee you will receive a uniform by the beginning of the season.)

-          Team Assessments:  July 8, 2024 and July 9, 2024 at 6-8 PM, Antelope High School.
(This is mandatory for all cheerleaders. If you are not present, you will not be considered for moving up at a later time during the season.)

-          Mandatory SYF Cheer Camp:  July (exact date TBA)
(This is mandatory for all cheerleaders)

-          Practice officially starts: July 10, 2024 at 6 PM, Location: TBD
(Practice will begin on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays. If we have an extended season we will add extra days as needed for practice. We will not have practice on Fridays, unless it is “conditioning week”!)

-          Mandatory Conditioning Week: July 15 – 19, 2024 at 6-8 PM, Pokelma Park
(This is mandatory for all cheerleaders)

-          SYF Jamboree: August (date / location TBA)

-          Games times vary depending on the season, but typically the game times are 10 AM, 12 PM, 2 PM, and 4 PM. Cheerleaders are needed to be present 1 – 1.5 hours before kick off in order to warm up and practice with their team. The cheerleaders must be in full uniform and have plenty of water so they are ready to go!

-          SYF hosts a cheer competition during the season and all cheerleaders are a mandatory attendance. Typically, these comps are in October. November is the championships.

-          When cheer does participate in an extended season we participate in JAMZ. That season is usually from November – April (if we place and move on to championships/nationals).

Can parents and/or guardians stay to watch practice?

Cheer is a closed practice due to the safety and distractions aspect of the sport. We want to ensure that your child is practicing and doing everything properly and safely, with little to no distractions. While we want you to be able to support and watch your cheerleader during practice we also want them to be safe and always be focused. We take lots of pictures during the season (during practice and games days) and we will keep you posted on their progress on our BAND pages!!
